The Renegade Size Guide

Choose Your Presence

South Sea pearls are the rarest and largest pearls in the world. Unlike freshwater pearls, their size isn’t subtle - it’s expressive.

At Renegade, we don’t just measure in millimetres.
We define presence.

Each step up in size brings a visible shift in impact - from understated everyday luxury to unmistakable statement.

Below, discover the presence that speaks to you.

Elegant

Up to 9.9mm

Understated. Effortless. Endlessly wearable.

Our Elegant pearls are refined in scale but never ordinary. At this size, you experience the rare beauty of a South Sea pearl in a way that feels natural and versatile - perfect for bridal styling, everyday luxury, or layering.

Think quiet confidence rather than volume.

Ideal if you love subtle radiance.

Commanding

10–10.9mm

Noticeable. Assured. Self-possessed.

At 10mm, this is where presence becomes more defined - still elegant, but undeniably there.

Commanding pearls hold their own. They don’t shout, but they are seen.

A beautiful balance of wearability and impact.

Grand

11–11.9mm

Substantial. Striking. Confident.

At 11mm, the scale becomes unmistakable. The pearl feels generous, luxurious, and beautifully bold without tipping into statement territory.

Grand is for those who appreciate presence - and aren’t afraid of it.

Mighty

12–12.9mm

Powerful. Magnetic. Impossible to ignore.

A 12mm South Sea pearl is a statement of nature’s magnificence. The lustre, the surface character, the individuality - everything becomes more pronounced.

Mighty pearls don’t blend in. They become the centrepiece.

Majestic

13–13.9mm

Regal. Rare. Remarkable.

At this size, South Sea pearls are truly exceptional - especially within the UK. The scale is dramatic and imposing.

There is a natural authority to a pearl of this calibre. The lustre deepens, the surface character becomes more expressive.

Undeniable presence. True rarity.

For those who make a powerful impact.

Supreme

14mm+

Extraordinary. Collectible. Unforgettable.

Fourteen millimetres and beyond is the pinnacle of South Sea beauty. These pearls are rare, powerful, and entirely individual - formed over years in the oyster.

Supreme is not just a size.
It’s a showstopper!

Understanding Pearl Types

In the UK, most pearls you’ll encounter are freshwater pearls — loved for their beauty, variety and accessibility. They are cultivated in freshwater mussels and are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes.

South Sea pearls are different in origin and scale. Grown in saltwater oysters in the South Seas, they are typically larger, rarer, and known for their exceptional lustre and naturally occurring shades - from luminous whites and silvers to rich golds and champagnes.

Neither is ‘better’ - only different.

At Renegade, we simply specialise in South Sea pearls because we are captivated by their scale, character and individuality.

A Note on Natural Beauty

Every Renegade pearl is hand-selected for its character - its dimples, markings, and natural fingerprints. These are not flaws. They are the story of its formation in the ocean.

No two pearls are ever the same.
And that is exactly the point.
